A beautiful oversized window in a primary bathroom is a luxurious feature, until you realize the whole neighborhood has a front-row seat. This New Canaan, CT homeowner loved the natural light and the look of their large front-facing bath window, but privacy had become a real concern. They needed a solution that would solve the problem without covering up everything they loved about that window.
A Versatile Honeycomb Shade Solution for Bathroom Privacy
After walking through the options together, a light-filtering honeycomb shade with top-down/bottom-up operation proved to be the right fit. It gives the homeowner direct control over how much of the window is covered, so privacy and natural light don’t have to compete.
Thoughtful Shade Features for Everyday Living
- Top-Down/Bottom-Up Operation: The shade can be raised from the bottom or lowered from the top independently, allowing you to block the lower portion of the window for privacy while keeping the upper section open to light and the sky.
- Light-Filtering Honeycomb Fabric: The cellular construction softens incoming sunlight rather than blocking it entirely, keeping the bathroom bright and airy even when the shade is in use.
- Cordless Control: With no cords to manage, the shade offers a clean, streamlined look and is simple to adjust with a single touch, ideal for a polished bathroom environment.
- White Finish: The crisp white color keeps the shade visually quiet against the window, letting the window’s architectural detail remain the focal point.
Project Highlights: Clean Look, Complete Privacy
The installation brought a single, well-suited honeycomb shade to the primary bathroom’s large front window in New Canaan, CT. The cordless, bottom-up operation allowed the homeowner to raise coverage to exactly the level needed, blocking the direct line of sight from the street while leaving the upper portion of the window open and unobstructed.
The client’s reaction said it all: the end result was exactly what they were looking for. The white shade blends seamlessly with the window trim, adding functionality without detracting from the window’s natural character. Privacy is no longer a concern, and the room still feels open and well-lit.
The Transformation: From Exposed to Effortlessly Private
Before the installation, the homeowner had little choice but to avoid using natural light in their bathroom or rely on makeshift solutions that detracted from the space. After the honeycomb shade was installed, the bathroom felt both more comfortable and more finished. The lower half of the window shields the room from outside views while the top half continues to bring in the soft, diffused light that makes the space feel welcoming.
